Ernie Carlomagno, Nursery Retail Manager
Meet Ernie, affectionately known as the Tree Whisperer, a dedicated member of the Donaroma’s Team for over two decades. With his green thumb and nurturing spirit, Ernie, alongside the rockstar Patty, takes charge of overseeing the growth of our beautiful perennials and ensures the smooth operation of our Nursery stock. But Ernie’s talents don’t stop there. He is also a Bonsai Expert, a true master of the ancient art of miniature tree cultivation. With delicate precision and an artistic touch, Ernie sculpts and trains these miniature marvels, creating breathtaking living artworks that capture the essence and beauty of nature in its smallest form.
Throughout his 23-year tenure with us, here at Donaroma’s, Ernie has become an invaluable pillar of our organization. His passion for horticulture, coupled with his unwavering dedication and vast knowledge, has played an instrumental role in shaping our nursery’s success. Ernie’s expertise and exceptional work ethic are matched only by his warm personality and willingness to share his wisdom with fellow staff members and eager customers. We are honored and grateful to have Ernie as part of our team. Ernie truly embodies the spirit of Donaroma’s, and we are fortunate to have him as a driving force behind our thriving nursery.
Patty Mundt, Nursery Retail Manager
Patty is an invaluable asset to our Nursery, bringing 26 years of experience and expertise as the Manager of the retail division. Her exceptional skills in management, sales, maintenance, and purchasing have been instrumental in our success. Patty’s commitment to quality ensures that our Nursery & Garden Store are filled with lush blooms, plants and supplies as she expertly selects the finest products for our retail spaces and crews.
Patty’s dedication, commitment, and unwavering passion for her work have firmly established her as a cornerstone of our organization. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and her ability to nurture both plants and relationships have earned her the admiration and respect of her colleagues and clients. Simply put, Patty is the driving force behind our nursery’s success, and we are grateful to have her as an integral part of our team.

Mariko Kawaguchi, Floral Designer
“Flowers leav
e their fragrance in the hands that bestow them”. These moving thoughts summarize Mariko’s professional life as a team member at Donaroma’s. Mariko is an award-winning Floral Designer, a part of our Management Team and Retail and Floral Purchaser. Mariko’s career started as a young seedling and has grown into 33 years. This involves many tasks and projects including designing horticultural exhibits, retail sales, writing plant and flower articles for books and magazines, and designing for everyday clients and events.
Coming from an art background, Mariko contrasts that with a larger inner library of plant knowledge, and many consider her to be an orchid and house plant specialist. Sharing that knowledge with the next generation of Donaroma’s employees, and a new client base of customers that come into the glass house is her next task at hand. Even with new people coming through the door, she still keeps a well rounded perspective that selling a single flower is as important as the production of a large wedding or landscape project.
Mariko feels that “having a loyal customer who trusts your vision is the greatest gift of all.” She loves watching things grow, whether it’s plants, friendships or our industry.
Mariko is grateful to have experienced all three of these in her years at Donaroma’s, and we are blessed beyond comparison to have this icon in our midst.
Cammie Naylor, Garden Designer
Meet Cammie, our seasoned Principal Landscape Designer and creative force. With a remarkable journey that began in 1996, Cammie has cultivated a wealth of experience and expertise that shapes our clients’ landscapes into stunning works of art. With a vibrant journey spanning decades, Cammie’s talent has blossomed through hands-on garden and container garden design, as well as overseeing maintenance crews. Her multifaceted roles have endowed her with a holistic perspective on landscape creation, making her an invaluable asset to our team.
Cammie’s artistry extends beyond the natural world. From collaborating on new construction projects to orchestrating the harmony of textures and colors within plant materials, she creates living landscapes that evoke beauty and functionality. Her deep involvement with masons and nursery planting crews demonstrates her commitment to crafting complete and captivating outdoor experiences. Cammie’s artistic flair has garnered recognition in notable publications like Martha’s Vineyard Magazine and New England Home, and her work has even graced the screens of HGTV and Plum TV.
While her hands flourish in the Landscape Design realm, Cammie’s creativity also thrives through her artwork and game board creations, which can be seen at the North Water Gallery. Cammie was also a finalist for “Best Landscape Designer” in the esteemed annual Best of the Vineyard 2023 contest by Martha’s Vineyard Magazine. Cammie’s passion and expertise shine brightly everyday, her ability to seamlessly weave nature’s elements into breathtaking designs not only transforms landscapes but enriches lives. We are honored to have Cammie in the Donaroma’s family.
Kathie Case, Cashier & Nursery Air Traffic Controller
Meet Kathie, our Nursery sweetheart and one of the driving forces behind our nursery’s seamless retail operations. With a strong horticultural background and a wealth of cashier experience, she effortlessly manages all aspects of our Nursery sales with precision and expertise. Kathie’s amazing personality and keen eye for detail ensure smooth transactions, reflecting her dedication to providing top-notch customer service.
In addition to her role, Kathie finds joy in sharing moments of wonder with our young visitors at the Nursery/Garden Store’s koi fish pond. Her genuine delight in creating these memorable experiences adds an extra touch of magic to our space. Kathie’s practical skills and warm demeanor make her an invaluable asset to our team, contributing to the overall success and charm of our nursery. We are very lucky to have Kathie in the Donaroma’s family!
Brendan Long, Construction
Meet Brendan, an indispensable member of our team who brings a remarkable camaraderie and a wealth of experience. From their early days in Kindergarten to their college years, Brendan and Jeff Donaroma have been best buds, and now they continue their journey together in the workplace. Brendan is our go-to guy when it comes to handling the big trucks and bobcats, taking charge of all the exciting and challenging tasks. We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have Brendan on our team, as his skills, dedication, and positive attitude make our workplace the kind of place where great things happen.
Carrie Lucier, Accounts Payable
Carrie is a skilled professional who leads our Accounts Payable department with expertise and finesse, making her an invaluable asset to Donaroma’s for over a decade. With extensive experience in the financial sector, particularly within the nursery and growing industry, her ability to handle payables seamlessly and gracefully has earned her an indispensable role in our team. Her Bachelor’s degree in international business and specialization in accounts payable, along with her proficiency in various other financial aspects, have contributed to the success of our office operations.
Beyond her professional achievements, Carrie’s dedication to her personal life shines through. As a devoted mother, she actively supports her three boys in their sports games, balancing work and family with admirable skill. In her leisure time, you can find Carrie indulging in her love for fishing with her family at the beach or tending to her garden, nurturing nature just as she does with our financial matters. Her professionalism, friendly demeanor, and strong work ethic make her a pleasure to work with, ensuring that our financial processes run smoothly and efficiently. Spring is Sue’s favorite season, as it represents a time of renewal and blossoming, and she revels in the vibrant colors and enchanting fragrances that accompany this time of year.
